Delete the Trash: How to Finally Block Spam Emails for Good

Tired of endless “free bitcoin” offers? A tech expert shows how to shut down spam—before it even hits your inbox.

Blocking spam one email at a time is like playing whack-a-mole. Spammers constantly switch addresses, making standard block-and-report tactics nearly useless. But there’s a smarter way: set up custom rules or filters in your email client to catch and delete junk on autopilot. Whether you use Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or BT Mail, these built-in features let you nuke spam based on subject lines or keywords like “free bitcoin”—no matter who’s sending it.

In Gmail, search for keywords, click “Create filter,” and choose “Delete it.” On Outlook, create a rule under “Settings” > “Rules” with the subject “free bitcoin” and action “Delete.” Yahoo and BT Mail work the same way—use “Subject contains” and set it to discard or move to Deleted Items. Just be cautious with your keywords—you don’t want to ban real messages accidentally. Bottom line: one rule can stop dozens of annoying emails cold. So, instead of chasing down each new spam sender, make your inbox smarter and let it do the dirty work for you.
