Falcons Fined $250K, Jeff Ulbrich $100K Over Leak of Shedeur Sanders’ Phone Number

NFL punishes Atlanta and its defensive coordinator after Ulbrich’s son used leaked draft info to prank-call Sanders

The NFL has fined the Atlanta Falcons $250,000 and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich $100,000 after his son, Jax Ulbrich, prank-called quarterback prospect Shedeur Sanders using a leaked phone number ahead of the NFL Draft. The Falcons admitted the breach occurred when Jax saw Sanders’ private contact info on his father’s iPad. The prank call, pretending to be from the Saints' GM, occurred just before Sanders was officially drafted by the Cleveland Browns.

Both Jeff and Jax Ulbrich issued public apologies, with the Falcons stating they fully accept the league’s disciplinary actions. “My actions in not protecting confidential data were inexcusable,” said Jeff Ulbrich. “We take full responsibility.” The Falcons also promised increased security awareness among staff and confirmed the Ulbrich family will participate in related community service initiatives.

Despite the breach, Shedeur and his father, Deion Sanders, responded with grace, according to the Falcons coach. Meanwhile, the NFL continues investigating other unrelated prank calls made during the draft
