Gillian Anderson on Ryan Coogler’s ‘X-Files’ Reboot: “Call Me If It Feels Right”

The OG Agent Scully says Coogler might be the perfect person to revive the iconic sci-fi series and she just might be game.

Gillian Anderson isn’t ruling out a return to The X-Files, especially with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler at the helm of the rumored reboot. In a new interview on This Morning, Anderson revealed she’s already chatted with Coogler about the project. “I said, ‘If anyone were to do it, I think you are the perfect person — and best of luck, call me,’” she said, hinting that the door is open if timing and vibes align.

Anderson, who made Scully an icon across 11 seasons and two feature films, has been cautiously optimistic about the reboot ever since whispers began. “Whether I am involved is a whole other thing. I’m not saying no,” she previously told the Today show, praising Coogler as “a bit of a genius.” Fans hoping for an Scully cameo might want to stay tuned — the truth might still be out there.

Meanwhile, Coogler seems fired up to dive into the strange and supernatural. “Some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really f—ing scary,” he recently said, aiming to thrill longtime fans and newcomers alike. If this reboot lands, it could be one hell of a return to the basement office.
