Inside the Rule Breakers Club: Who Snuck Phones Into the 2025 Met Gala
Megan Thee Stallion, Halle Bailey, and Questlove defy Anna Wintour’s no-phone rule, bringing the internet inside fashion’s most exclusive night.

Anna Wintour’s legendary no-phones policy didn’t stop some of the boldest names in entertainment from turning the 2025 Met Gala into their own backstage vlog. Megan Thee Stallion led the charge, capturing everything from selfies with Serena Williams and Lupita Nyong’o to table-side cameos from Tracee Ellis Ross and Doja Cat. “We’re not supposed to have our phones,” she admitted on Instagram, “but we’re doing it anyway.”
Joining her in the digital rebellion were Halle Bailey snapping selfies with Sydney Sweeney, and Questlove, who lowkey filmed a restroom group shot with Met Gala co-chairs Colman Domingo and Lewis Hamilton. Even Tyla couldn’t resist a quick upload, posting a selfie with Shakira straight to her 11.2 million followers.
Wintour’s famously tight grip on Gala etiquette might be loosening—or just ignored. While the official stance still bans phones and social posts inside the museum, this year’s stars clearly didn’t get the memo—or didn’t care. Whether these rebel uploads earn uninvites in 2026 remains to be seen, but for now, the Met Gala’s velvet rope just got a little more transparent.
